AVI, MPG, Flash splash screen
Is it possible to have a splash screen that is an AVI, MPEG or FLASH instead of an image?

Yes. You will have to create a plugin to do it though. I do not know of one that already exists.

I would advise against using such things though. You will surely run into some serious compatibility problems. The main goal of an installer to is "install". If you add such a splash screen, users may get really frustrated if it doesnt even install.

you could use a flash projector file that executes onInit... the only way i can think of.

in flash you can export the file to a projector. that is an .exe file which includes a flashplayer plus the actual flash-animation.

i can imagine there's similiar stuff available for AVI files (AVI2EXE or names like that), but those solutions blow the actual video even more in filesize, which is why i agree with rainwater.
