Is their anyway to "trick" the required MB in the components page?
I compressed my work with 7zip and it took it from 146MB to 24MB. On the component page the 7zipped component is displayed as only needing 24MB. Completely understandable but truth is NSIS sends a command which will expand it and blow it up.

Is their anyway to trick the automatic sizing of the component?

Use the AddSize command in the section. It takes negative values too.
