VIAddVersionKey
Besides the version tab there is a summery tab. Is there a way to add Summary information too? Does a similar command exist -> VIAddSummeryKey ??? If not, this would be nice to have.

Thanks
Art

That's a feature of Microsoft Office documents.

Joost, actually in Windows 2000 exe files also have a summary tab in the properties dialog. Although I have never seen this tab used for anything.

Yes but that's something different. This Summary information for EXE files is not stored in the file itself, but it's a property of the NTFS file system.

That's means that if you copy it to a drive with a different file system or distribute it over the internet, the information will be lost.

While this is a property of the file system, many things can and are lost about files that are copied from one system to another, ie. user assigned icons, shortcuts, dll registration information, unregister info.

This however misses the point. During installation, there are cases where setting the summary information is important. If the user copies the files directly to another system or over the internet without going through the installation program then this is beyond the control of the application and installer process.

Also a feature on Windows XP.

And how exactly do you suggest the installer will set this information before it has been executed? ;)

You can write a plug-in if you want to set this information.
