hoax? mcafee virus warning for nsis (sdat 4336)
i just got a warning from mcafee about 2 nsis programs:
- installcvsdata
- EnumCDs Example.exe (from EnumCD)
(nsis 2 final)
Virus detected: Adware BuddyLinks
SDAT Version 4336 from 10th of march (latest)
another test with NOD32 showed nothing.
i think its more an info than a warning cause a full system scan was successfull without other messages. so some code may seem to be a virus (but it isnt) !?
pls confirm ! ***

I can not confirm these results as I don't have Mcafee but I do not that false possitives, detections of a virus where one does not exist, can occur and usually is not detected by other virus scanners. These have been known to happen although very occasionally and ome virus scanners are more prone to these phenomenon.

Hello McAfee users,
It states right on the McAfee Customer Support Knowledge Base page that the virus definition files 4388, are incorrectly identifying nsisdl.dll as being a virus. They also state that this has been addressed in the 4389 definitions. However, they haven't released the 4389 definitions as of yet.
