tried quotes? are you sure WriteRegBin is the right command to use?
Yes it does. I know the way i do it is correct (with a shorter string it works, but i cant make ik shorter)
But its something with the lenght i think.

Go to nsis.sf.net, click "Download" on the left part of the page, after click "Special Builds", and then download the Large strings special build. It is necessary for you, as the string you're using has 4802 characters.
This is strange, indeed this should be the solution but i still get this error.

Isnt it possible just to open a reg in NSIS? So it opens a .reg file extracted in a temporarry folder and execute it silent.

What about writing this string into a .ini File, reading the string on runtime into a var and writing the value of the var into the registry?

that is because you're using the wrong syntax. use HKLM instead of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE (as said in the error-msg).

I understand, thats what im trying to find out. A (working) solution. But what i dont get is that the special build doesnt work. Maby the file isnt right.

Ive used this in a (instal) section but it doesnt seem to work:

(the reg.reg is loaded like this: 'ReserveFile "reg.reg"')

What NSIS version are you using?
Im running the latest NSIS version (downloaded yesterday, so i think its the latest version :p) And i pasted it in the NSIS dir and overwrote the old one.
No did not extracted it anywhere, is that needed?

It should work when using that special build, are you sure makensis.exe has been overwritten?

DWORD is a 32 bits integer -> used for calculations (can be in files too), BINARY is each 1 bit that compose 1 byte -> used for files composition. What he is doing is like writing into a file...

Oh, not forgetting, kichik added a bigger line support (is why it's working now). What was happening before was that the line had a limit of 4096 bytes (= 4 kb) and the line has 4802 bytes. Nor the old special build corrected this. Now the limit for each line is 16384 bytes (= 16 kb).
