Merge Modules
I've tried 'msiexec /i "$INSTDIR\sp5.msm" /qn'. It completes successfully, but none of the files or directories get created. Any idea what gives?

Have you searched the forum for "msm" or "merge module"? There were a few threads about merge modules. I think I even remember one with the exact same problem. The answer was creating a dummy msi that contains just the msm and installing it.

Thought this might interest peeps. I had this problem with wanting to install .msm from NSIS, and a quick search on google revealed a freeware converter that takes an .MSM file and produces a .MSI for you:
