Unicode
is there an easier way to check if a system supports unicode besides checking the OS version.

Doesn't unicode needs unicows.dll?

You can try search for the file. :)

AFAIK, unicows.dll is only for the Windows versions that don't support Unicode natively. Windows XP does not have this by default (it does, however, appear to ship with .NET 2.0 - although that might just be the SDK).
