Detecting Firebird (interbase) server on the network

Hi,

I am considering move the backend of my client/server application from MSDE to Firebird.

I need my installer (written using the great NSIS of course) to search the user's lan and detect if my database has been installed already.

Does anyone have any experience doing this ?
