Is there an NSIS syntax plugin for GEDIT?

WinMerge has an amazing syntax highlighting for .nsi files - but when printed it all turns into black & white (even on color printers).

I am thinking perhaps of using gedit (the one that comes with Ubuntu Linux) for that purpose. It also has impressive (and printable) syntax highlighting - but not for NSIS.

Another option (if available) is to use the editor built into Visual Studio 2005.

Any idea how I can get printable syntax highlighting for .nsi files?

You could see it as a challenge to build and share your own syntax plugin for gedit 😉

I would be more than happy to do this when project schedule eases up a little bit. In the meanwhile, I have discovered that the .ini plugin works pretty well for .nsi files. It's not perfect, but as a quick workaround it does pretty nice job. 🙂

You need to manually select that syntax highligting mode:

View > Highlight Mode > Others > .ini

there has been a very basic highlighter for some years now, i took the time to update it to support all nsis 3.0a0 commands. work in progress!

i don't use either, i'm more than happy with sublime text 😉
