How are you handling software registration?

First off, by way of disclosure, I am the author of the registration plugin. And because my logs show a fair amount of traffic, I assume that a fair number of you use the registration component. I'm pretty sure that my component doesn't have 100% market share though.

So if you are doing software registration, what are you doing? Why did you choose that route over other options?
