MSSQL check if row exists

Sorry for posting if this has been covered before.

Is it possible to make a screen that asks the user to enter name and a password and then check that against a mssql database? Ie see if the row exists?

I've tried the mssql examples and others but have failed miserably so thought I'd ask 🙂
