All I want to do is have a 498 by 312 image on the Welcome page background. Why is it so difficult? I have tried MUI_background.nsh without success. This should be so simple...!

At first make sure the !include "MUI_background.nsh" command is placed after the definitions for the pages.

The attached illustrates the specific problem I have had with MUI_background.nsh that has driven me to find a better method: The image is shifted left so about a third of it is missing. (I include the image, but I've masked the company logos.)
